Smarter banking,
made simple.
ANZ Plus is a mobile-first reinvention of everyday banking for Australians. Two integrated accounts, round-ups, goals and a Coach that nudges better money habits — all built around the idea that a bank can be a partner, not a ledger.
A bank that helps you spend less time banking.
ANZ Plus started with a deceptively simple question: what would a bank look like if it were built today, from the ground up, on a phone? Not a port of a desktop experience. Not a redesign of the existing app. A new product, a new platform, and a new relationship between a bank and its customers.
The answer had to work for first-home buyers and pensioners, side-hustlers and small business owners. Australians don't share a single financial life — but they do share the wish that money felt a bit less heavy.
Designing for trust, then delight.
Banking apps fail when they feel uncertain. So the first job was building moments of calm — clear amounts, honest categorisation, reassuring confirmations. Only once the fundamentals felt unshakeable did the team layer in the bits that turn a banking app into a habit: round-ups, savings goals, gentle nudges from the Coach.
The team grew to more than thirty product designers — researchers, content designers, prototypers, accessibility specialists, and IC designers across iOS, Android and the web. My role was to set direction, make space for craft, and keep the product feeling like one coherent thing as we shipped weekly.
A platform Australians actually use.
ANZ Plus has grown into one of the country's fastest-adopted new banking products, with hundreds of thousands of Australians using it as their everyday account. The design system, research practice and craft bar set during this phase now shape every new surface — from joint accounts to home loans.
